Went to see Dr. Lambert today just for a consultation at the Cancer Center. I feel a little better as he explained that the monocytes are high and they are the cells that tell the body to build the white cells. As I haven't had chemo since March 7th, that isn't the reason for the drop in white cells. He said there may be an underlying factor such as some drugs I am on or I may need to have a bone marrow test done. I am not excited about that as I had one done 14 years ago and it is so barbaric! They give you a Valium or whatever drug they use now, and then numb the area, well it just feels like a lot of pressure until they hit the bone marrow! Then it is the worst pain I have ever felt. Even going through the bone was just pressure, but oh boy...the marrow is brutal.
I go Friday to have another CBC done to check out the white counts etc. So.....hopefully they will go up and not down. Technically I am neutropenic again, meaning no crowds, no certain foods etc. But I have decided that I am going to the Scrapbook Cottage for a class on my birthday tomorrow as it was a gift given to me. I'll be 56 and glad that I am! Then on Thursday I have another doctor appointment with a new doctor for stress management and a blood draw on Friday, other than that I will stay in the house and try to be germ free.Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I will put my trust in Thee.
Love, Janet
