Day 35 - Going Home!!!

Great news! Mom's white blood cell count is up to 10+ this morning, so they're busting her out of the hospital & sending her home!!!

She'll probably get home sometime this afternoon. I guess the doctor was right when he said her count would "shoot up like an elevator" - boy did it ever! Mom's fever has stayed down, so that is a good sign that the sepsis is gone, but they will never know exactly what bacteria or fungus caused the infection because all of the cultures came back negative. Her kidneys appear to be functioning normally again & her blood pressure has been good, so all is well in Hopper-land.

Mom is likely to be very tired & will probably still feel generally "ucky" as she will still be recovering from the effects of her chemo. They have postponed any futher chemo until at least March, so hopefully that will give her some time to feel better for a little while.

Dad just told me that their new family theme song is "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood, which is perfect considering how He guided us through this strenous time. Sometimes things don't go the way we WANT them to, but if we just let Him take the wheel, He will make sure things go the way they NEED to.

Thanks again for all your thoughts & prayers... they worked!!! Hopefully Mom will start feeling well enough to post her own blog soon, so stay tuned for an update from the Chemo-Diva herself... :)
