I am a bit late in posting this today, but after the kids all left today.....we took a big nap! Last night's Relay for Life was a huge success in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Fond du Lac raised over $511,000.00. Our "Hopper's Hood" raised over $7,700.00 and money is still coming in. Our "dude, looks like a lady" walked the track with her/his purse and brought in around $170.00...woo hoo, way to go! We are so proud of Fond du Lac...and "Hopper's Hood", they came through again.
The shirts we are wearing in this picture is the official "cancer survivor" shirt. Our Hopper's Hood shirts are the safety yellow ones that almost glowed in the dark. The theme "Survivor - Relay Island, vote Cancer off" was a very clever theme this year and tents were decorated accordingly. You can see pictures by looking at them in the right sidebar or by going to Picasa Web. the Picasa web address is: try to cut and paste. http://picasaweb.google.com/jjhopper/RelayForLife2008
You can also click on a picture in the sidebar to get to my Picasa Web albums.
As I get pictures from other people, I will add them to the sidebar slide show.
Jeff & I were humbled that we were asked to be the honorary co-chairman's for the Luminary Event. We were asked to give a 10 minute speech on both of us having cancer, along with a couple of caregivers who had lost their loved one to cancer and the song "Imagine" was sung beautifully by a man I used to work with at the Fond du Lac Housing Authority, Officer Steve Olsen. Then everyone took a lap around the track in silence while a long, long list of names were read of the people that had lost their lives to cancer. The silence and the soft glow of the luminaries lining the track was a site to behold.
Until tomorrow........Love, Janet

WOW...$511,000. Our local raises about $100,000 each year we've had it. Sometimes 80,000 sometimes 120,000. Half a million is good.
